Olubadan to install Ibadan’s youngest Mogaji today.

TODAY, March 20th, 2017, all roads will lead to the Popo-Yemoja Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji as Niyi Ajao will be installed as Mogaji of Ayegun Compound, Inalende area of Ibadan North Local Government.
For long, ‎many indigenes of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital have advised all compounds on the need to present young persons as Mogajis when there are vacancies. This is because succession to the throne of Olubadan takes decades, through promotion from Mogaji to either of the two lines – Balogun and Otun‎.
Ajao, a technology expert, had to succumb to pressure, many years after he had been persuaded to take the position.
Mega Icon Magazine reliably gathered that members of his compound had insisted, after the death of their last compound head, that the next person should be a young person.
And Ayegun Compound eventually settled for Ajao, 37, who has been a Special Adviser on Information and Communication Technology‎ (ICT)  from the beginning of the Abiola Ajimobi administration in Oyo State.
With today’s  installation, Ajao becomes one of the Chiefs that may become an Olubadan in the future.
