Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Bar. Yomi Oke, and his counterpart from the Lands and Housing Ministry, Mr. Isaac Omodewu, are among the dignitaries that attended the opening ceremony of the much talked about MASM U-17 Female soccer tourney held on Sunday at Ilaji Stadium and Resorts Center, Akanran Ibadan.
The ceremony which began with the match pass by the participating states saw Bar. Oke and Engr. Dotun Sanusi, the Chairman of Ilaji Stadium officially welcoming the contingents from each state to the venue.
In his opening remarks, Bar. Oke admonished the players to make the best use of the golden opportunities presented by the tourney adding that talents discovered through the competition will go ahead to earn decent living for themselves in the nearest future.

He urged the teenagers to be focused, diligent and disciplined, saying that the virtues are the necessary ingredients they need that will see them excelling in their chosen career.
Bar. Oke, thereafter, lauded Engr. Sanusi over what he described as his consistent humanitarian gesture praying that he would continue to be a source of joy to mankind.
Meanwhile in the opening match of the competition, Oyo State came from behind to draw their counterpart from Rivers.
It was a match which showed the resilience of the Oyo State’s side, having being dominated in the early stages of the match by the Rivers girls.
The pressure eventually led to two goals before the Oluyole girls pulled one back.
The hope of winning the match was dimmed when the U-17 girls from Rivers State scored another goal in the first minutes of the second half making it three goals to one.
The match continued in a ding-dong affairs until the Oyo State side pulled one back through a wonderful free kick.
The third and the equalising goal occured during the dieing minute of the encounter through a glancing header from the number nine shirt of the Oyo State’s side.
