Oke-Ogun Poly ASUP congratulates new Rector, lauds Makinde

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) Chapter, congratulates the newly appointed substantive Rector of the Institution, Dr Ajibola Sikiru Adetona.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had in a letter dated December 16, 2022, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, appointed Dr Ajibola as the Rector of the State-owned Polytechnic.

The congratulatory message was contained in a press statement issued on Thursday and jointly signed by the Chairman and General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Lawrence Oluwasanmi Ajiboye and Comrade Wasiu Ademola Olanite, respectively.

The Oke-Ogun Poly ASUP described Ajibola’s appointment as deserving, saying that it is a welcome development.

The Union specifically commended Governor Makinde for responding to the request for the appointment of a substantive Rector for the Institution.

The Oke-Ogun Poly ASUP expressed its appreciation to the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of all the Oyo State-owned Tertiary institutions for championing the agitation for the appointment of substantive Management.

“We also appreciate members of the Governing Council of our great Institution ably led by Barrister Lateef Sharafadeen Abiola Onijo, for their contributions towards the development of TOPS”, the Union added.

The Oke-Ogun Poly Saki ASUP expressed optimism that the tenure of the newly appointed Rector will mark a watershed in the history of the Institution, promising him their unalloyed support.

The Oyo State Government, in the appointment letter, urged Dr Ajibola to steer the ship of the Institution in accordance with the terms and conditions of the office and status, as spelt out in the relevant laws of TOPS, during his single term of five years in office.
