The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a motorcyclist, identified as Godonu Lowe, for allegedly conveying the corpse of his wife in a sack while attempting to flee their community in Ilaro.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Abeokuta.

Odutola said routine stop-and-search operations again proved effective as operatives uncovered the suspected murder on Wednesday.

“On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at about 1305hrs, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received credible information that a suspected felon, Godonu Lowe ‘m’ of Omolende Village via Idogo, was transporting the corpse of an unknown woman on a motorcycle in an attempt to escape from the community,” she said.

According to her, police operatives immediately intercepted the suspect and inspected a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle.

“The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife. The body bore marks of violence, with bleeding around the neck, suggesting foul play,” the PPRO added.

A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered at the scene.

Odutola said the suspect was taken into custody while the victim’s remains had been deposited at the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the anonymous informant for providing timely intelligence and urged residents to continue assisting the police with credible information to aid crime detection and prevention.
