Ogbomoso: Oba Ghandi Olaoye pledges increased sports investment

Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III,  has affirmed a commitment to increased sports investment in Ogbomosoland.

Addressing attendees at the inaugural Oba Ghandi Olaoye Golf tournament, the monarch praised the Ogbomoso Recreation Club’s initiative, expressing joy at the club’s transformation, vowing to further boost sports funding.

Accompanied by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Professor Adesola Adepoju, traditional chiefs, and others, the Soun of Ogbomosoland was welcomed by the club’s president, Dr. Akin Oladeji John Brown, and Chief Pekun Olaleye, among others.

After touring the exhibition ground, the king officially inaugurated the ORC Golf Section.

“We will make this event an annual occurrence, drawing golfers globally to Ogbomoso, with significant economic impact,” stated the monarch.

In an interview, Dr. Akin Oladeji John Brown, the club’s president, highlighted the tournament’s significance, commemorating Oba Ghandi Olaoye’s coronation.

He anticipates over 150 golfers nationwide participating, expressing confidence in attracting more professional golfers in the coming years.

“We are prepared to collaborate with Kabiesi to position Ogbomoso as a sports tourism hub, using the golf tournament as a major attraction to draw visitors to the city.”
