President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has been arrested in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
Ajaero’s arrest, as learnt was unfolded at the NLC State Council Secretariat in Owerri, where he was apprehended by heavily armed policemen.
This information was reported by Benson Uper, the Head of Media at the NLC Headquarters, who communicated these events through a WhatsApp message, according to Channels Television.
The NLC is currently at the forefront of a statewide protest and strikes in Owerri, with their grievances centering around issues such as a perceived lack of respect for workers and the non-payment of salaries, among other concerns.
