New Year Killings: Yoruba Youths commiserate with Benue, Rivers, Kwara, called for arrest of perpetrators

The apex Yoruba youths group, Yoruba Youth Council ,YYC  has commiserated with the government and people of Benue, Rivers and Kwara state over the new year killing that occurred during new year celebration.

Contained in a statement issued by the Oyo state chairman of the group, Otunba Olukayode Adebayo and made available to newsmen in Ibadan through the state director of media and publicity, Lekan Shobo Shobowale, expressed sadness over the incident. The group said the killings, injuries and unnecessary destruction of properties in Guma and Logo local government area of Benue state as well as killings of seventeen people in Rivers and that of Taiwo isale in Kwara state must be condemned by all.

Yoruba Youth council therefore called on relevant security agencies to do everything possible to arrest those that are behind these ungodly incidents. “The ongoing killings and wanton destruction of people’s properties must be checked by those that are concerned now without further delay.” The statement emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence and harmony among all Nigerians irrespective of whatever differences.

“Nigeria belongs to all and no section of the country must intimidate or harass others under any reason, hence appropriate measures must be taken to forestall future occurrence,”

The group then prayed that God should grant the the lost souls an eternal rest and for their family to be consoled.
