Media managers, publishers and social media influencers were excited as Chairman of, the Board of Commissioners, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande held end of a year get-together last Thursday in Ibadan.
The well–coordinated annual event, held at his Aerodrome residence in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, had about 100 guests in attendance, comprising New Media experts, political analysts, activists, students and members of the Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) among others.
In the spirit of Christmas and new year’s celebration, Akande equally doled out cash gifts to the practitioners as part of his appreciation, just as he vowed never to undermine their significance.
The Event Diary Crew of Mega Icon Magazine reliably learnt that the classy get-together party which lasted for about three hours was to appreciate the support provided by the media throughout 2022. The memorable gathering was an evening of fun, celebration and networking.
They expressed delight with the success and development the NCC boss facilitated to Oyo state, especially in the area of youth empowerment through relevant digital skills acquisition in the last few years, adding that the development comes with high enthusiasm and laudation.
Addressing the gathering, the APC chieftain expressed deep-felt appreciation to the media, stressing that 2022 was a year to be remembered as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) under President Muhammadu Buhari celebrated numerous milestones.
Akande, a political scientist and lawyer further noted that the successes have been recorded because of the incredible support given to him and his team by the media across all platforms.
“As is our tradition, we celebrate and recognize the phenomenal role you continue to play across the areas we operate. This gathering is only for us to show appreciation to all of those who for different reasons stood by us and to thank God for keeping us alive. We are here to celebrate and not an interactive session”, the NCC chief said.
He, however, appealed for the support of the media to ensure the success of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others at the polls.
