Mo Salah has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Season after his incredible season with Liverpool.
Winger Salah has netted 43 times this season for the Reds, including 31 notches in 35 appearances in the league.
The gong will sit next to his PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, Liverpool Fans Player of the Year and Liverpool Players’ Player of the Year trophies he has already grabbed.
The Egyptian fought off competition from champions Manchester City’s stars Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, Manchester United keeper David De Gea, Tottenham goal machine Harry Kane and Burnley defender James Tarkowski to win the prize.
Salah, who joined from Roma last summer, said: “I’m very happy, it’s an honour to win this award.
“It was always in my mind to come back to the Premier League to show the people that say I didn’t succeed here the first time.”
Salah also paid tribute to boss Jurgen Klopp for helping him become the dominant force in the Premier League.
He added: “Before everything, we are friends, I like him a lot.
“He has helped me a lot to do what I’m doing now, on the field and off it, I have to thank him for everything he has done this year.
“But [there are] still two games, we have to think about that.
“I really, really respect him a lot and I’m sure we are going to do something special for the club this year.”
Salah joins Michael Owen and Luis Suarez is winning the award while playing for the Reds – which is won by winning the most combined votes from a panel of experts, Premier League captains and fans via a public vote.
He has also plucked the Player of the Month award three times this campaign – the first man to do so.
