Mina left without suitors as Manchester United deal collapses

Yerry Mina has been left without a Barcelona exit route after a transfer to Manchester United has collapsed with the Red Devils nearing a move for Toby Alderweireld.

The Colombia international has been in the market for a move away from the La Liga champions all summer after a disappointing time at the club following his midseason arrival.

Mina failed to break into Ernesto Valverde’s plans, playing just five times in the league after his January move from Palmeiras.

Despite a strong World Cup performance that saw him score three goals in Russia, the defender has been pushed further down the Barca depth chart with the arrival of Clement Lenglet.

A move to Everton had long been thought to be in the cards, but Mina had emerged as a target for Manchester United in recent days as the Red Devils looked for an alternative after Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Alderweireld appeared too expensive.

However, Goal understands Manchester United have moved closer toward landing Alderweireld, and have moved on from their efforts to sign Mina.

While that would appear to clear the way for Mina to move to Everton, it is also understood that the Toffees have pulled their offer for the defender.

Everton have been frustrated over the way negotiations have been carried out, believing they have been used in the process.

With the two Premier League clubs having rescinded their offers, it leaves Mina with no suitors at the current time.

A move to England would have to materialise in the next few days, as the Premier League window closes August 9.

However, that would not necessarily end the chances for Mina to find a new home as most other leagues have a later transfer deadline, with a move still possible elsewhere until August 31.
