Mesut Ozil returns to Arsenal early after his team-mates tell him about Unai Emery’s impressive training sessions

Mesut Ozil has made the decision to return to Arsenal early after his team-mates told him all about Unai Emery’s impressive training sessions.

The Germany international had a disappointing World Cup, and became a scapegoat in someways, as the 2014 champions failed to get out of their group.

Ozil was poor in his nation’s opening defeat by Mexico, and was subsequently dropped for their last-gasp win over Sweden. Ozil returned to the starting XI for Germany’s must-win clash with South Korea, but was again on the losing team.

The midfielder went on holiday immediately after the tournament to clear his head, amid calls from his father to retire from international football.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Arsenal team got to work at London Colney, learning Emery’s new ways and getting fighting fit for their Premier League opener with Manchester City.

According to Goal, Ozil has remained in contact with his Arsenal team-mates, who he spoke to about the new regime at the club.

And apparently the German was so impressed by what he heard he decided to cut his holiday short and head back to London to join the group.

Ozil was recently handed the number 10 shirt, something he was dying to get his hands on ever since signing for Arsenal in 2013.

The German wore the number at his former club Real Madrid, as well as for his country, and received it after Jack Wilshere left the Gunners for West Ham.
