Mesut Ozil angry with Arsene Wenger over failure to improve the team

Mesut Ozil is unhappy with Arsene Wenger over his failure to significantly improve Arsenal‘s squad, claims Robert Pires.

The Gunners broke their club record to sign Alexandre Lacazette for £52.7million this summer, but Sead Kolasinac was their only other first-team recruit having joined from Schalke on a free transfer.

Arsenal’s summer was also overshadowed by speculation surrounding Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as both players entered the final year of their contracts.

And now Pires, who still trains with Arsenal’s first team, has indicated that Ozil has grown frustrated with Arsenal’s lack of progression.

‘Ozil is a warrior who wants to win something,’ Pires told SportBild.

‘To me, he seems so angry about the fact that Arsenal hasn’t put together the team with which he can make a difference.

‘They only spent money on Alexandre Lacazette. That’s not enough to compete for the top spots.’
