Following a exodus of political bigwigs who decamped to All Progressive Congress in Oyo State from all the opposition parties, the Executive Assistant on Political Matters to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Dr. Morohunkola Thomas has predicted a possible emergence of a one-party controlled state by APC in Oyo State.
Dr. Thomas, also noted that this will lead to extinction of the oppositions, adding that Governor Ajimobi’s exemplary leadership will make this achievable.
The governor’s aide made this remarks last week Wednesday while receiving decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Accord Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Ido Local Government Area during the party’s general meeting held at Ido Motor Park.
The new members were also received by Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe, Pa. Olayiwola Lakondoro, Alhaji Bashiru Babalola, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela, Alhaji Rauf Labankadi, Hon. Wahab Oladejo, Barrister Niyi Oyekunle among others.
Challenging the oppositions in the state, Thomas disclosed that the party is adequately prepared for the forth coming Local Government elections billed for 2018 while boasting that, the APC would delivered all the seats, including the newly created LCDAs.
Thomas, however enjoined the new decampees to work in unity with other members of the party and always pursue the interest of the party in the development of the state.
Also corroborating him, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela who is also from the council said the APC would always welcome and accommodate decampees into its fold as the only consistent progressive party in the country.
He added, “when you look at this development, we now have a very strong and formidable party, almost a single party. That means that what you need is to struggle for the ticket of APC, once you get the ticket, you are sure of winning the election.
Olowofela informed that the governor’s unprecedented performance has drawn a lot of people to joining the APC.” I have told them that the party is big enough where everybody has opportunity”.
Some of the dacampees, Hon. Gbenga Olaniran, Chief Olajide Isaac both led the SDP in the council, Mr. Akeem Adeyemi (Accord) and Mrs. Oluremi Boluwade (PDP) expressed their joy over joining the APC and pledged to contribute their quota to the development of the party and Oyo State in general.
