Manchester United and Manchester City go head-to-head for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe

Manchester United are ready to battle Manchester City and Real Madrid to capture French striking sensation Kylian Mbappe.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Paris Saint-Germain before tying up a £166million permanent deal from Monaco this summer.

But having spent £198m on Neymar last year, PSG are being investigated over financial fair play face being booted out of the Champions League as well as being hit with huge fines if found guilty.

United are monitoring the potential consequences for PSG’s deal with Monaco and have registered their interest in Mbappe with the teenager’s advisers.

City have already made it known that manager Pep Guardiola would like to add the striker, who became France’s youngest ever World Cup finals scorer against Peru last week, to his Premier League winning squad.

United would be prepared to sacrifice unsettled winger Anthony Martial in part exchange, a player they value at around £80m.

That would see United having to part with £86m to secure the deal with Monaco if PSG pull the plug on their agreement with the Monte Carlo based club.

Real Madrid are also in the market for Mbappe, rated the brightest young talent in Europe.

United are anxious to add Lazio’s Serbian international midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to their squad but are so far refusing to meet the £80m asking price.

Juventus are also involved in negotiations with Lazio but like United feel the player is over priced.
