Malcom to snub Everton and sign for Roma as Bordeaux confirm an agreement has been reached to sell Brazilian

Malcom is set to snub Everton and sign for Roma, Bordeaux have confirmed.

The Toffees had been closing in on a £30million move for the Brazilian winger, and were prepared to hand him a five-year deal worth around £80,000 a week at Goodison Park.

New Everton boss Marco Silva saw the midfielder as the perfect player for the attacking 4-3-3 system he intends to utilise this season, after failing to lure Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace.

But the former Watford manager has missed out on Malcom too, after Ligue 1 club Bordeaux took to Twitter to confirm a deal has been agreed to sell the player.

The tweet read: “Bordeaux informs you that an agreement has been reached, subject to the signature of the administrative documents, with Roma for the transfer of Malcolm.”

Everton have been looking for a man to replace Yannick Bolasie, who the club are trying to loan him out to Turkish club Fenerbahce.

The 29-year-old isn’t keen on the move however, having settled in the UK with his family.

Bolasie still has three years left on a lucrative contract at Everton after being signed in 2016 for £25m from Palace by then boss Ronald Koeman.

But his spell on Merseyside has been wrecked by a bad knee injury suffered in his debut season against Manchester United, and Silva, alongside new director of football Marcel Brands, has been told to trim the squad and wage bill.
