Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has requested for an extension of the tenure of the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas Caretaker Chairmen and their members.
The request, was contained in a letter forwarded to the State House of Assembly by the Governor.
It will be recalled that the tenure of the Caretaker Chairmen whose appointments were approved on the 19th of December, 2020 will expire on the 19th of December, 2020.
According to the letter, Governor Makinde wants the House of Assembly to approve the extension of tenure of the Caretaker Chairmen for another three months.
” It is my wish that the House of Assembly gives this request accelerated hearing to avoid creating a vacuum in the governance of the Local Government Councils”, the letter read.
The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said the House will work inline with the report generated by its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Ogundoyin also assured that the request will be attended to by the House on Friday during its plenary.
