Makinde solicits support of Oyo Assembly

Oyo state governor,  Engr Seyi Makinde has solicited the support of the newly inaugurated members of the Oyo State House of Assembly in the task before him aimed at moving the state to enviable heights.

Governor Makinde made the plea, Monday, while speaking  at the inauguration of the 9th Oyo Assembly held at the House of Assembly complex, Agodi, Ibadan.

The governor was at the Oyo State House of Assembly to issue a proclamation for the holding of the first session of the House of Assembly in accordance with section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended

In  his address at the plenary, Makinde emphasized the need for the lawmakers to shun partisan politics and work collectively for the progress of the state, saying that he’s committed to make Oyo state the preferred investment destination in Nigeria, hence the need for Oyo State Investment Promotion Agency (OYSIPA) Bill 2019 with an intension to promote, facilitate and coordinate investment in the state through Public Private Partnership (PPP)

Speaking further at the event, Makinde promised that his administration will ensure effective collaboration between the executive and the legislature for the advancement of the state.

The Governor also informed the legislators that his administration will establish Oyo State Financial Crimes Commission Bill 2019 to ensure transparency and accountability in both state and private sectors and work with relevant agencies in the state to reduce economic and financial crimes to a  bare – minimum.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly,  Rt.Hon Adebo Ogundoyin  pledged that the 9th Oyo Assembly will enact more people-oriented laws to promote good governance and accelerated development in the state.
