The Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has issued the proclamation for the inauguration of the 9th Session of Oyo State House of Assembly.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa indicated that the proclamation, under the signature of the Governor was issued to the Clerk of the House, Ms. Oyediran Foluke on Saturday.
According to the statement, the proclamation was pursuant to the provision of Section 105 Sub-Section 3 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As Amended).
The Section states that “the person elected as the Governor of a state shall have the power to issue a proclamation for the holding of the first session of the House of Assembly of the State concerned immediately after his being sworn in”.
The Governor in the proclamation also declared that the House shall hold its first sitting on June 10, 2019, at 10.am prompt.
The statement quoted a part of the proclamation thus: “I, Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State of Nigeria, in exercise of the power bestowed on me by Sub-Section 3 Section 105 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As Amended) and all other powers enabling me in that behalf hereby proclaim that the First Sitting of the First Session of the 9th Assembly of the Oyo State of Nigeria shall hold at 10.00am on Monday, 10th June, 2019 in the hallowed Chamber of the House of Assembly, Parliament Buildings, Ibadan.”
