Liverpool and Arsenal ‘set for £90million summer tussle’ in bid to land Monaco winger Thomas Lemar

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly set for a £90million summer transfer tussle as they both look to land Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

Both clubs have been linked with January swoops for the flier but he looks set to stay put in this window with a clutch of clubs keen on his signature at the end of the season.

Atletico Madrid are also interested in Lemar who has scored twice in 16 Ligue 1 appearances so far this term.

He was a key part of the Monaco side that stunned PSG to win the French title last season and was on the brink of a switch to the Emirates in the summer should Alexis Sanchez’s proposed switch to Manchester City have gone through.

But Arsenal have maintained their interest, and will go head-to-head with Liverpool in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old remains keen on a move to England and Arsene Wenger is still in the market for a young attacker despite the impending arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Arsenal have been linked with Brazilian ace Malcom, but Tottenham have jumped to the front of the queue in the race for the Bordeaux winger.

Mkhitaryan’s move is expected to go through in the next 24 hours, with Sanchez moving in the other direction to Manchester United.
