LAUTECH, Fed Poly, Ayede sign MoU for academic collaboration, support

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso and the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo state have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic collaboration and support  to enhance the growth and development of the newly established federal institution.

The pact was signed between the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mojeed Liasu and the Federal Polytechnic Ayede Rector, Dr Taofeeq Abdul-Hameed among other principal officers at the latter’s office on Thursday.

According to a statement by the institution’s Corporate Communications Committee, the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede had earlier approached LAUTECH for academic cooperation and support towards the polytechnic’s pursuance of its mandate.

The MoU will provide cooperation and support in the academic activities of the infant institution to help strengthen mutual understanding, foster friendly cooperation, promote sustainable and productive academic collaboration, and access and use LAUTECH’s facilities, equipment and resources.

Commenting on other key objectives of the MoU, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Dr Taofeeq Abdul-Hameed who was represented by the institution’s librarian, Dr Samuel Ogunniyi at the ceremony noted that as a young federal polytechnic that needs the assistance of other sister’s institutions in terms of collaboration, the new partnership would also assist the polytechnic not to only have access to LAUTECH’s resources but as well present them to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) team billed for resource inspection next week.

He added that the partnership would help strengthen and accelerate the growth of technical education which is needed for the revival of industries and a solution to the increasing rate of unemployment in Nigeria.

“This is just the beginning of a good thing that is happening in our polytechnic, most especially, this time that we are expecting our resource inspectors from the National Board for Technical Education next week. This is going to assist us in actually getting all the courses we are going to start with.

“Like we have the faculty of engineering, environmental science, and agricultural technology in LAUTECH, we also have similar schools in our polytechnic and in-term of resources like their laboratories and workshops, all these are going to assist us. In summary, we now have resources that we can show to the inspection team in LAUTECH, notwithstanding we are preparing for ours by the grace of God through TETFund”, the Rector said.

While thanking the management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) for the support and collaboration it has rendered, Dr Abdul-Hameed, however, assured the public that the polytechnic would commence full academic activities between December 2022 and January 2023.
