GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and the Ibarapa East Local Government have been urged to implement the prayer of the Oguntayi and Adio ruling houses of Lanlate, granted by Justice Bayo Taiwo.
The appeal was made on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital by members of the Oguntayi and Adio ruling house during an interaction with newsmen.
Justice Bayo Taiwo of the High Court of Justice of Oyo State, Eruwa Judicial Division had earlier delivered a judgement on October 5th 2018 in favour of the Oguntayi and Adio ruling houses.
It would be recalled that the Oyo state government, in a letter dated February 13, 2012, installed Olagoke of Bioku house as the Baale of the town following the contentious deposition of Sunday Olusegun Bolawale Oladejo Oguntayi II
But, Justice B.A Taiwo, while delivering his judgement recently in a suit filed by Oladejo and three others, held that Olagoke’s installation was “unlawful, illegal, null and void”.
According to the representative of Oguntayi and Adio ruling houses, Barrister Mufutau Eyitayo, “we are using this medium to appeal to the Oyo State Government led by the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters as well as the Ibarapa East Local Government to implement the judgement of the 5th day October, 2018 delivered by Justice B.A Taiwo in favour of the Oguntayi and Adio ruling houses.
“We believe that this government works hand in hand with the judiciary and so we appeal that the Oyo State government should implement the prayer of the claimant, granted by Justice B.A Taiwo”, he urged.
While appreciating the Ajimobi led government for allowing fair hearing during the legal tussle over the Onilala stool, Barrister Eyitayo added, ” we sincerely appreciate Senator Abiola Ajimobi for giving the judiciary a free hand to operate in delivery of justice to the common man”.
He, however assured that the ruling houses will continue to be law abiding in the belief that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
