The Lagos State Government has apprehended six individuals for engaging in open urination on the rail track located in front of the Nigeria Army Shopping Complex, Arena, Oshodi.
The arrests come as part of the state’s broader initiative to crack down on public indecency and improve sanitation standards across the metropolis.
The Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests in a statement shared on X.com on Saturday.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to maintaining public hygiene, Wahab noted that the operation was in line with the #ZeroToleranceLagos and #CleanerLagos campaigns aimed at ensuring a cleaner and more sanitary environment for residents.
“Six defaulters were earlier today arrested for open urination on the rail track in front of Nigeria Army Shopping Complex, Arena, Oshodi,” Wahab wrote.
The government’s ongoing efforts to enforce environmental laws and discourage unsanitary practices in public spaces are a key part of its strategy to enhance the quality of life in Lagos.
The arrested individuals will likely face penalties under the state’s environmental laws as the government continues its crackdown on such offenses.
Residents have been urged to adhere to the regulations and utilize public conveniences provided by the state to avoid facing similar penalties.
