Kidnapped Unijos Lecturer, Husband Rescued

Abducted lecturer of the University of Jos, Prof. Grace Ayanbimpe and her husband, Isaac have been released by their abductors after spending 24 hours in captivity with the abductors.

The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Edward Egbuka, who disclosed this, also explained that the release followed the concerted efforts of police tactical team of the command alongside hunters and members of the vigilante group.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday invaded their residence behind Haske Quarters, Lamingo in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

Alsi, security personnel have been deployed to Kisayi village near Maxwell Khobe cantonment, Three Division of the Nigerian Army, to forestall any breakdown of law and order as well as a reprisal after an attack on herders by yet to be identified attackers and cattle rustlers.

The combined team of police and operatives from Operation Safe Haven, according to the Commissioner of Police, found that 15 cows were slaughtered by the assailants.

The Commissioner informed that two cows and a sheep are recovered from the scene of the incident while 36 cows and 12 sheep are allegedly missing after the attack on the herders.

The recovered animals have been released to the complainants with a search for the missing animals continues.
