The Kano State Government has announced that Monday, July 8, will be observed as a public holiday in celebration of the commencement of the new Islamic calendar year.
This declaration was made in a statement released on Friday by Baba Dantiye, the Commissioner for Information.
In the statement, Governor Abba Yusuf encouraged citizens to use this holiday as a time for reflection on the past year and to engage in activities that are beneficial to themselves and the community.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes aimed at fostering self-dependence among the populace.
“The state government, on its part, will continue to implement and initiate policies and programmes that will empower citizens to be self-dependent,” the statement read.
Governor Yusuf reassured the people of Kano of his administration’s dedication to introducing initiatives that empower individuals to achieve self-reliance.
He also urged Muslim clerics to maintain prayers for the peace and progress of the state, expressing confidence that with the support of the people of Kano, his administration will elevate the state to unparalleled economic prosperity within the nation.
