The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Oyo state has expressed grief and sorrow over the death of an ex- student leader, Comrade Adeniran Yemi , popularly known as ‘Likedat’ who died in a ghastly motor accident at Adegbayi, Ibadan.
Likedat and others were returning from Abuja where the Supreme Court delivered judgement on the governorship election in Oyo State last Thursday.
The former student leader and others who left Abuja, the nation’s capital in a bus belonging to the youth wing of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had reached Adegbayi, a suburb of Ibadan, when the accident occurred.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, the Chairman, NANS, in the State, Comrade Asubiojo Olujuwon noted that the late Comrade Adeniran was the first NANS JCC Chairman in Oyo state, describing him as a leader whom many past and present student leaders look up to for guidance and counsel.
Asubiojo lauded the gesture of Governor Seyi Makinde to have personally visited the family of the deceased and identified with them in this moment of grief. He expressed satisfaction on the promise of the Governor to do the needful for the family.
He however, urged the Governor to ensure quick implementation of the promise and not make it an ordinary headline promise.
Also speaking during the visit, the Welfare Director of the association, Comrade Adefajo Sekayomi, said “leader Adeniran Yemi might be dead but his legacy is not, history will not forget him because of his selfless contribution towards students movement”.
He described him as a source of inspiration to the young generation of comrades and prayed that God should forgive his sins and grant him eternal repose.
