The family of Feranmi Fasunle, a 200-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, who reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday has finally spoken on her death.
Fasunle of the Department of Political Science, who died in a controversial circumstance, was reported to have taken a poisonous chemical which resulted in her death.
Sources from the university community, had hinted that the deceased took the poison in her room and started gasping for breath.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the university, Victor Akinpelumi, who also confirmed the incident, had expressed sadness on the incident, noting that the reasons for her action remained unknown but sources said it might be connected to a failed relationship.
But, father of the deceased, Prof.Adeolu Akande, the chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), in a statement made available to Mega Icon Magazine on Thursday assured that the family would reach out to the authorities of the university for investigation into the unfortunate incident.
“It is on a very sad note that I announce the passage of our daughter, Miss Feranmi Fasunle, aged 19.
“The sad event took place today at the Federal Medical centre, Owo, Ondo State.
“She was a promising 200 level student of Political Science at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State who dreamt of reading Law as a second degree”, the statement said.
Akande, however expressed appreciation to the authorities of the Adekunle Ajasin university and Federal Medical Centre, Owo for the spirited efforts to save their daughter.
