Chelsea have completed the signing of Napoli midfielder Jorginho, in a deal believed to be worth £50million.
The Italian international moves to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal, worth £100,000-a-week.
The Blues have usurped Premier League winners Manchester City to land the 26-year-old, who had been one of Pep Guardiola’s top targets as he looked to strengthen the champions.
But Jorginho, born in Brazil, will instead ply his trade in London next term.
He will wear the No.5 shirt at Stamford Bridge next season.
Jorginho made 39 appearances for Napoli last season, in a campaign where the Partenopei ran Juventus close for the Italian title.
But the midfielder made clear at the end of the campaign a desire to depart.
His arrival comes a matter of hours after Chelsea announced Maurizio Sarri had taken over as manager.
Jorginho played under Sarri at Napoli and the new Blues boss has managed to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
“I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy,” Jorginho said.
“I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.”
