Jack Wilshere set to sign new Arsenal deal as midfielder on verge of reaching agreement

Jack Wilshere is set to stay at Arsenal.

Arsenal have offered Wilshere a new three year deal with a further 12 month option to keep him at the Emirates until 2022.

As revealed in Mirror Sport, the club improved their initial offer last week and that has brought a breakthrough to get all sides talking again. Arsenal believe Wilshere will sign the new deal.

Wilshere, 26, is currently on £110,000-a-week but that deal expires next month and they offered him £90,000-a-week with complex add-ons and incentives.

England star Wilshere was worried that asking him to take a pay cut was a sign they were not keen to keep him which alerted a host of clubs including Everton, Wolves, Juventus and AC Milan.

But Arsenal have now improved the basic offer and the pay-as-you-play part of the deal and as long as he is playing regularly then it will represent a significant rise.

Wilshere has not hidden his desire to stay while Arsene Wenger confirmed on Tuesday that Arsenal are hopeful a deal can be done.

Arsenal are hoping to finalise and announce the deal which would be a major boost as Wilshere is a huge favourite with the fans who are desperate for him to stay.

Wilshere has proved his fitness this season after a catalogue of injuries which is the reason Arsenal wanted to make the new contract on a pay-as-you-play basis.
