Insecurity: Ibadan village head, wife abducted

The Baale of Araromi Village in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state,  Chief Tafa Apanpa and his wife, have been abducted by some suspected kidnappers.

The gunmen, as learnt, stormed the village, on Tuesday night, and took the Baale, Chief Apanpa and his wife away.

Bakatari, housed by Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan is located along the Ibadan-Abeokuta express road, sharing boundary between Oyo and Ogun States.

Residents of the area said the abduction of the village head and his wife occurred during Tuesday night’s rainfall in Ibadan.

As of press time, the  whereabouts of the duo is still unknown.

According to NAN report, a resident of the area who pleaded anonymity said: “It is true.The Baale has been kidnapped”.

Confirming the incident, Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso said that efforts have been intensified to secure the release of the victims.

“The incident happened very late on Tuesday, 22nd of June, 2021 at Araro village.

“Efforts are in top gear to rescue both victims and as well apprehend the abductors, please,” Osifeso said
