The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency of Oyo State, Engr. Aderemi Oseni has fulfilled another of his campaign promises by providing and installing five new transformers across various communities within his constituency.
This development is aimed at significantly improving the electricity supply to areas that have long been plagued by either a complete lack of power or low voltage due to faulty transformers.
The new transformers were delivered to Mosoke/Okeodan/Ogodu Apete, Olohunleke/Adefengbe and Environs, Onigbagbo Omi-Adio, Idiobi/Odujobi, Sango Eruwa, and Oke Imale Lanlate communities.
These areas have been struggling with power-related issues, and the provision of these transformers is expected to bring much-needed relief to the residents.
Oseni, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), emphasised the importance of a stable electricity supply for the growth of local businesses and the overall economy.
“Electricity is essential for the growth of our businesses and the overall economy. These transformers were provided based on requests from different communities in the constituency,” he said.
In a statement released on Monday by his Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the APC chieftain noted the joy and satisfaction that the transformers have brought to his constituents.
He also reassured them that no additional financial burden would be placed on the communities for the installation of the transformers, as all necessary electrical appliances and installation costs had been covered.
Reflecting on his broader developmental agenda, Oseni reiterated his commitment to the “Every Ward in Ido/Ibarapa East: A Functional Transformer” initiative, which operates under the 3Rs Model—Repair, Renovate, or Replace non-functional transformers.
He stated, “I have already donated numerous transformers to various communities during my campaign. Moving forward, I am committed to furthering this effort to ease the daily lives of our artisans, traders, and communities.”
The lawmaker also highlighted his plans to continue supporting his constituents through the provision of generators.
“By the grace of God, I will also be providing generators to women, artisans, traders, and communities to improve the quality of life and facilitate economic development. At the last mega empowerment programme, fifty generators were distributed to enable immediate business take-off for our market men and women in the constituency,” he added.
Recalling his interactions with residents during his visits to these communities, Oseni explained that the need for transformers had been a recurrent issue raised by landlords and tenants.
“I was informed that they had written several times to relevant authorities but to no avail. I promised to look into it and find a solution. So, five brand new transformers were delivered and handed over to the residents, while we await the delivery of the remaining ones,” he stated.
The lawmaker assured his constituents that he would continue to work tirelessly to meet their needs, stressing that the electrification project was just one part of his broader agenda for the constituency.
“What they had witnessed and are presently seeing as part of our developmental efforts is just the beginning. By God’s grace, I will fulfill all my promises,” Oseni affirmed.
He urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the facilities, reminding them that these transformers now belong to them and should be protected and maintained responsibly.
