Ibarapa East bye election: Ogundoyin emerges PDP candidate

THE son of the late philanthropist and industrialist, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, Debo Ogundoyin has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ibarapa East State Constituency bye-election.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday conducted primary to fill the vacant seat following the demise of the late Speaker, Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo who represented the state constituency.

The three aspirants that jostled for the ticket of PDP are Adebisi Kehinde, Esuola Saka and Debo Ogundoyin who eventually emerged as the party flag bearer.

Before the commencement of the voting, Mr Esuola Saka stepped down leaving Adebisi Kehinde and Debo Ogundoyin with 2 votes to 37 votes respectively.

The 31 years old Debo Ogundoyin was declared winner of the primary election having scored the highest votes.

Commenting, the Chairman, National PDP electoral panel, Chief Okey M. Aboh, commended the delegates for their orderliness and also advised the nominee, Ogundoyin, to work closely with his co-contestants and leadership of PDP in Ibarapa East local government to achieve victory at the June 2nd bye election.

In his remarks, the PDP Candidate, Ogundoyin, while thanking the delegates, the leaders and the party members promised not to disappoint the good people of Ibarapa East local government if elected.

The primary election, had in attendance, Oyo State PDP Chairman, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, State Deputy Chairman, Olukunle James, State Secretary, Alh Wasiu Emiola, State Youth Leader, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye, State Legal Adviser, Bar Koyejo Oyetunde, State Organizing Secretary, Hon Y. A. Yusuf, State Financial Secretary, Hon Abiodun Ekolo and the State Publicity Secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji among others.
