Ibadan Poly Killing : Students’ Forum Dismisses Rumour, Says ‘Maku’ Was Never A Cultist

 

Urges Police to Bring Killers to Justice

Anti – cultism group named The Polytechnic Ibadan Students’ Forum has affirmed that Ahmed Olalekan popularly known as ‘Maku’ who was recently murdered by suspected cultists was never a member of any secret cult as it is being rumoured, adding that the group is not an alternate cult group that will take vengeance on behalf of the departed soul.

The Students’ Forum in a press statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Councils of Elders, Comrade Oyedele Temitope on Wednesday, a copy which was made available to Mega Icon Magazine also urged the security agencies, particularly the police to carry out comprehensive investigation in order to bring the killers of this innocent soul to justice.

The Students’ Forum, a registered group under the directorate of the student affairs office, comprises of current and former students of the Polytechnic Ibadan  saddled with the responsibility of curtailing and eradicating of secret cult activities within and outside the campus.

Contained in the statement, the group, while regretting with deep sorrow the death of its member, Ahmed (Maku) who was murdered on Monday by suspected cultists at his residence in Apete also described the deceased as a very brave, intelligent, vibrant and active compatriot in the fight against  cultism throughout his life.

“Maku until his death was a graduate of the Department of Urban & Regional Planning and had played a vital role in maintaining peace and order within and outside the campus. He was well known for his outstanding roles by the security unit of the Polytechnic, Ibadan and had on many occasions liaised with the Apete Police Station in order to forestall cult activities of unscrupulous students and cultists.

” Its our prayer that Almighty God in his infinite mercy will give his family, the Students’ Forum and the Polytechnic Ibadan at large the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”, the statement added.
