Fulfil your campaign promises- Popular Ibadan Muslim scholar, Olagoke warns politicians

Popular Ibadan based Muslim Scholar, Dr. Nasir Olagoke Abdulsalam, has warned those in positions of authority in Nigeria , irrespective of their political faith and religion against losing paradise (Aljana) by living in the consciousness that no man lives forever and that death is inescapable.

Olagoke Abdulsalam, who is the Mufassir of the Arabic Institute of Nigeria, also charged political office holders to govern the people with the fear of Allah, enjoining them to fulfill all the promises they made during the electioneering campaigns.

Speaking at the 2021 Annual Tafsir Special Programme held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, he explained that Almighty Allah will ask them (politicians) to give account of how they govern the people they promised to serve.

“People who are extremely rich, icons of their time have died, even those who had earlier occupied several juicy positions and commanded great powers are no more. An important lesson these people never seem to grasp is that you can’t take it (wealth and position) with you when it comes to your final resting place.

“We must be mindful of the fact that death and judgment are sacrosanct. Life itself is transient and ephemeral, we must be conscious of Aljana (paradise) and work towards it”, he counseled.

Olagoke, while extolling the virtues of the Special Guest of Honour, Sen. Abdulfatai  Buhari representing Oyo North Senatorial District as a true ‘Omoluabi’ to the core and a God-fearing politician, urged the lawmaker to continue with the good work he had been doing , praying to Allah to give him the strength to do more.

Also, commenting at the event, Senator Buhari appreciated the honour, describing it as a rare privilege that will never be taken for granted.

The lawmaker, however reiterated his determination to give meaning to good, quality representation and good governance , assuring his constituents of more dividends of democracy.
