Frank Lampard has refused to rule out the possibility of replacing Michael Emenalo at Chelsea.
Technical director Emenalo quit the club last week in search of pastures new, following 10 years at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea revealed they were assessing the club’s backroom set-up following Emenalo’s departure with former striker Didier Drogba also linked.
And Lampard, who has previously revealed his desire to one day manage Chelsea, was coy about a return.
“I worked with Michael for seven or eight years and his role at the club coincided with the most successful period in Chelsea’s history so I think he deserves a lot of credit from that,” said Lampard.
“Everyone at Chelsea wishes him well as he moves on.
“In terms of myself, I don’t know.
“I’m a Chelsea person, I’d love to be involved with the club long-term in some way. We’ll see.”
Despite Emenalo’s exit, Chelsea will retain their transfer plans in January.
They are expecting to eye a striker and are likely to rekindle their interest in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
