Former Stoke City player Dionatan Teixeira has tragically died aged just 25 from a suspected heart attack.
The defender joined the Potters back in 2014 having had trials at a number of Premier League clubs, including league leaders Manchester City, but only made two substitute appearances during his time in the English top flight – which was blighted by injury.
He joined Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol after leaving Stoke, having also enjoyed a spell on loan at Fleetwood Town, and they confirmed the sad news.
‘A few hours ago, a good man and an excellent football player, former FC Sheriff player Dionatan Teixeira died.
‘The Brazilian defender was only 25 years old. The whole of the club is shocked by this tragic news. The pain of loss is great.
‘He will remain forever in our hearts.’
Stoke City sent their thoughts to the loved ones of the former Slovakian under-21s star.
