This decision follows extensive negotiations held between President Bola Tinubu and representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Abuja on Thursday.
“We are happy to announce today (Thursday) that both Organised Labour and the Federal Government have agreed on an increase from the current ₦62,000 minimum wage. The new national minimum wage that Mr. President is expected to submit to the National Assembly is ₦70,000,” Minister Idris stated.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference attended by prominent figures including NLC President Joe Ajaero, TUC leader Festus Osifo, Labour Minister Nkiruka Onyejeocha, and other senior officials from both sides.
