The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha festival.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah both within Nigeria and across the globe. He congratulated them on witnessing yet another Eid celebration, describing it as a sacred moment for reflection, sacrifice, and deep spiritual connection.
The Minister urged Muslims to emulate the values of sacrifice and unwavering faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He further encouraged faithfuls to use the festive period to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and prosperity of the nation.
Reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to national development, Tunji-Ojo stated that ongoing reforms and people-centered initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are geared towards restoring Nigeria to the path of sustainable growth and progress.
“While wishing the Muslim Ummah a joyful Eid-ul-Adha celebration,” the statement read, “the Minister called on all Nigerians to support the efforts of the current administration in rebuilding the nation and reclaiming her lost glory.”
