The Federal Government has blamed the delay in the payment of June 2025 salaries of some federal civil servants on a technical glitch encountered during bank processing.

This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, following growing complaints from affected workers, particularly those whose salary accounts are domiciled with Zenith Bank.

“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank,” the statement said.

Mokwa noted that the office had commenced efforts to address the issue and was working closely with relevant service providers and stakeholders to ensure that the failed payments were reprocessed without further delay.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience this unfortunate incident has caused and wish to assure all affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” the statement added.

He acknowledged the anxiety and frustration the delay has caused, especially given the importance of timely salary payments to the livelihoods and responsibilities of civil servants.

According to him, concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem, and arrangements are underway to reprocess the delayed payments as quickly as possible.

“The welfare of federal government employees remains a top priority of the office,” Mokwa said.

He also reaffirmed the OAGF’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all payroll operations, while assuring continued engagement with stakeholders to ensure improved service delivery.
