The Federal Government has commenced the construction of 250 housing units under its Renewed Hope Estate project in 12 states across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, disclosed this on Friday during an inspection of the Renewed Hope City and Estate project in Lambu, Kano State.

Dangiwa said the government was finalising arrangements to roll out similar housing developments in the remaining 24 states, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to making housing affordable and accessible for Nigerians.

“In addition to the 250-unit estates, the government is also constructing seven Renewed Hope Cities—one in each geopolitical zone and the FCT. The cities in Kano, Lagos and the FCT are already at advanced stages, while others in the North-East, North-Central, South-South, and South-East will take off soon,” he said.

The minister commended the contractors working on the Kano site for their commitment despite delays in payment, assuring them that outstanding funds would be released soon.

“I urge you not to despair, as all your payments would be made as soon as practicable,” he added.

During the inspection, the minister and his team also visited the site of the 2,000-unit Renewed Hope City in Kano, which is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) financing arrangement.

Dangiwa expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far and charged the developers to stick to the August 2025 delivery deadline.

“Housing provision is a top priority for this administration. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends to bridge the housing gap in Nigeria by making homes available and affordable to all categories of Nigerians,” the minister said.

He was accompanied on the inspection by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, as well as top ministry officials.
