The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has launched an investigation into an incident involving popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday during boarding for a Lagos-bound flight operated by ValueJet Airlines, reportedly involved a breach of aviation safety regulations.
FAAN, in a statement by its spokesperson, Obiageli Orah, said the musician attempted to board the aircraft with a flask containing an unidentified liquid substance, later confirmed to be alcohol, despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security personnel and the flight captain.
“The passenger was informed of this regulation but reportedly declined to comply,” the statement read.
“As boarding continued, an airline security officer asked the passenger to step aside for further clarification. The passenger allegedly refused and spilled the contents of the flask on the officer, which turned out to be alcohol. The flight captain intervened but faced similar resistance.”
FAAN said the situation escalated when the musician moved to the front of the aircraft and allegedly refused to vacate the area until security personnel intervened.
The agency noted that the act was in violation of established safety protocols and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.
“The Authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved,” FAAN stated.
“This matter is under thorough investigation, and all parties found culpable will be held accountable according to the law.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has suspended two ValueJet pilots over the incident, which it described as a serious breach of aviation safety.
