ALL arrangements to appoint an interim committee to steer the ship of the emerging party in Oyo state by the Ahmed Makarfi led Caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been concluded, Mega Icon Magazine reliably gathered.
The PDP is making frantic efforts to set up an interim leadership structure in all the 33 local government areas so as to gain enough clout to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, come 2019.
This is coming few days after the national caretaker chairman of the party, Senator Makarfi visited former members of the PDP in Ibadan.
According to sources who confided in Mega Icon Magazine on Sunday, an interim committee would be put in place to give the political platform a leadership direction, pending conclusion of all necessary arrangements, noting that the interest of all the political parties that made up the new merger would be duly protected.
One of the sources hinted that the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Accord Party, (AP), are part of the merger arrangement, revealing that the committee would comprise the political bigwigs and notable names in Oyo state who are members of the party.
“In a bid to avoid creating a vacuum and also to regulate the activities of the party, the caretaker committee would be inaugurated at least in two weeks”, the source disclosed.
