AHEAD of the forthcoming general elections, a leading gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde has set in motion a machinery to woo Senator Adesoji Akanbi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Oyo South Senatorial District with automatic ticket, Mega Icon Magazine reliably learnt.

This is coming after the defection of Chief Rashidi Ladoja to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Also, Makinde, had earlier wooed ex- governor Adebayo Alao Akala to PDP, which eventually met a brick wall.

Confirming the development, close source to Engineer Seyi Makinde who spoke to our reporter in confidence disclosed that the APC Senator, Adesoji Akanbi is being offered automatic ticket to recontest for the Oyo South Senatorial seat under the PDP platform.

The source further alleged that the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi is planning to hijack the senatorial seat from the current occupant, Akanbi; a gesture he said the PDP is ready to offer him considering the lawmaker’s popularity in Ibadan land.

According to the source, It is believed that the combination of the duo; Engineer Seyi Makinde and Senator Adesoji Akanbi may secure Ibadan votes for the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), adding that talks is still ongoing.

However, as at press time, all efforts made to reach the lawmaker, Akanbi, on phone proved abortive.
