endows 10-year education scholarship for Ajorosun club laureates

The immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande has demonstrated his commitment to improving the standard of education in Oyo state, as he endowed a scholarship scheme spread over 10 years for no fewer than 100 laureates of Ajorosun Club of Ibadan land.

Ajorosun Club was established in 1980 to foster good relationships between members and contribute to the socio-economic development of Ibadan land.

Akande announced the endowment at the anniversary of the Ajorosun club, a foremost socio-cultural club in Ibadan land where he served as Chairman of the occasion.

Mega Icon Magazine reliably gathered that the former NCC boss would be given N100,000 to each of the 10 scholarship laureates of the club drawn each year for the next years. The laureates are annually drawn from the nation’s universities through a competitive examination.

Granting scholarships, as learnt, is one of the highlights of the annual celebrations of the Ajorosun club.

Speaking at the event, Akande said he identified with the lofty scholarship programme of the Ajorosun club, noting that the youths in the country face enormous challenges in their educational and entrepreneurship pursuits. He added that any club that commits itself to easing these problems deserved the collaboration of well-meaning citizens.

The APC chieftain described the Ajorosun club as one of the foremost sociocultural groups in Ibadan land and Oyo State, whose contributions to the development of Ibadan land are enormous.
