The Ekiti State Police Command is determined to apprehend the culprits behind the bank robbery in the Ikere-Ekiti area, where two new-generation banks were attacked on Wednesday evening, resulting in an undisclosed amount of money being taken and three individuals feared dead.
In a post-incident statement, Abutu Sunday, the police spokesperson, revealed that CP Ogundare Dare, the Commissioner of Police, personally visited the robbery site in Ikere-Ekiti for an on-the-spot assessment.
Expressing his displeasure over the incident, the Commissioner directed the Ikere Area Commander and all Tactical Teams within the Command to ensure the perpetrators are tracked down, arrested, and brought to justice.
Tactical squads and soldiers deployed to the scene engaged the criminals, who abandoned three vehicles and two motorcycles before fleeing into the bush.
The police urged anyone with pertinent information on the identities and whereabouts of the criminals to contact them.
CP Dare extended condolences to the affected families and wished a swift recovery to those currently undergoing treatment.
He called for calm, assuring the public that the Command will persist until the perpetrators face the full force of the law.
