The Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) has finally released the timetable for the local government election in the state.
The timetable which was disclosed during an interactive session with newsmen, in Ado Ekiti, the state capital , last Friday fixed December 7, this year for the conduct of local government election in the state.
The chairman of the commission, Justice Jide Aladejana, explained that the tenure of the 177 councillors and 16 local government chairmen and other appointed officials will lapse on December 19, 2019, having assumed office December 19, 2017.
The commission further assured that the local government polls would be conducted in a transparent manner devoid of rigging.
“We are assuring our people that their votes will count, so all parties must sponsor candidates for the elections”, he assured.
