Eight Arrested in Connection to Murder of University of Maiduguri Lecturer

In the aftermath of the tragic murder of Abdulkadir Kamal, a lecturer in the Physical and Health Education Department at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), the Borno State Police Command has taken swift action, apprehending eight suspects allegedly linked to the crime.

Kenneth Nahun, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, confirmed the arrests.

While Nahun did not specify whether the detained individuals were students, speculation arose concerning the motive for the lecturer’s murder, notably his role as the examination officer for the department.

The genesis of the investigation unfolded when the university’s chief security officer filed a report regarding the discovery of Kamal’s deceased body on Sunday.

Responding, , the police from Gwange Division were dispatched to the scene and apprehended the aforementioned suspects. The authorities have initiated investigations to uncover both the perpetrators and the circumstances surrounding the killing.

According to Nahun, Kamal sustained multiple stab wounds from knives and daggers, ultimately succumbing to his injuries in a pool of blood.

Danjuma Gambo, a spokesperson for the University of Maiduguri, disclosed that the institution has granted permission for a thorough police investigation to determine the motives behind the murder and to bring the culprits to justice.
