The deputy governor of Oyo state, Engr Rauf Olaniyan, has specially expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all Islamic leaders in the state for adhering to the Covid-19 restrictions put in place by the government.
The deputy governor noted that “even though these restrictions prevented us from holding our usual Eid prayers which commemorates the end of the Ramadan, with your support, the Muslim Ummah did forgo this very important obligation in the overall interest”.
Olaniyan, also admonished Muslims across the state not to let go of the lessons and piety that the month of Ramadan taught them, just as he urged them to continue to live their lives according to Sunnah of Allah through his prophet Mohammed (SWT).
Continuing, the deputy governor, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Omoetan Omolere on Sunday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital and made available to Mega Icon Magazine, thanked the state’s Muslim Ummah for the steadfastness in the support and prayers for the Seyi Makinde -led government, adding that, ” this support is greatly appreciated. Please do not relent”
The statement reads, “As we celebrate the Eid El Fitri today, I wish to felicitate with my Muslim brothers and sisters across the country, especially in Oyo state.
“We thank Almighty Allah for the grace He gave us to successfully observe the Ramadan fast inspite of the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic presently ravaging the world.
“I also want to specially express my heartfelt gratitude to all Islamic leaders in the state for adhering to the Covid-19 restrictions put in place by the government. Even though these restrictions prevented us from holding our usual Eid prayers which commemorates the end of the Ramadan, with your support, the Muslim Ummah did forgo this very important obligation in the overall interest.
“I pray that Allah rewards you all for this sacrifice embarked upon on for the greater good. We should be our brothers’ keepers and continue to observe the Covid-19 protocols until such a time when it will be safe to return to normalcy.
“I sincerely thank the Oyo state Muslim Ummah for the steadfastness in the support and prayers for the government of Oyo state led by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Mankinde. This support is greatly appreciated. Please do not relent.
“I wish you all a happy Eid El Fitri celebrations. I pray that the benefits of the Ramadan will be ours, even as I continue to pray for peace in Oyo state and the country”, the statement concluded.
