The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a social media content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, over alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency.

The arrest was announced via the agency’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.

Sa’ad, who is known on TikTok and Instagram by the handle @youngcee0066, appeared in a viral video where he was seen throwing naira notes on the ground, deliberately stepping on them, and daring EFCC officials—in Hausa language—to arrest him if they could.

Following the online circulation of the video, EFCC operatives, acting on intelligence, tracked him to the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State, where he was apprehended.

He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation at the Commission’s Kaduna Zonal office.

The EFCC reiterated that abuse of the naira remains a criminal offence under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, and warned members of the public against such actions.

Sa’ad’s arrest adds to a growing list of individuals facing investigation or prosecution for defacing or mishandling the Nigerian currency in public.
