OYO state government, through its Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has organized a 7 day workshop for all science teachers in public secondary schools across the state on procedures to handles dangerous chemicals and other laboratory hazards.
Speaking at the opening session of the workshop on Monday at Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela noted that to embark on scientific experiments, it is imperative to break away all dangers associated with the teaching and learning of science related subjects in the schools.

Olowofela further added that the gesture is in consonance with the tripod agenda of the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in restructuring, repositioning and transforming every sectors in the state.
Also, he averred that the ignorance index of laboratory hazards is alarming saying the need to get familiar with laboratory procedures cannot be over emphasized while research have it that laboratory hazards claims too many victims’ lives in the process of carrying out scientific experiments.
