Edo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of a lecturer from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Osadolor Odia.
The Command’s spokesman, Bello Kontong confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday .
Professor Osadolor Odia, a former Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering was reportedly abducted by gunmen on his way to his farm in Ekpoma.
“I can confirm that Prof. Osadolor Odia was kidnapped on his way to his farm. The kidnappers have contacted the family of the lecturer and are demanding N18 million ransom”, sources revealed.
The Police, in the statement, explained that the kidnap occurred on Wednesday when seven armed men stormed the victim’s farm at Egoro Amende village where he was working and took him away leaving other farmers who were on the farm behind.
He disclosed that operatives of the police, hunters and local vigilante are still combing the bush as part of efforts to rescue Mr. Odia.
